Senior School Overview

St. Michael Sport Career Development Programme (SCDP)

This programme is designed to assist students who possess advanced skills or who show exceptional promise in either football or tennis. Its aim is to create a better school-life balance by allowing students to train during school hours. Professional coaches will use the school football grounds and tennis courts to help students enhance their abilities and techniques.

Entry into the programme occurs in Year 7 or Year 9. Students applying for this programme must exhibit a high proficiency level in the sport, and acceptance is determined after a practical assessment has taken place. Once enrolled in the programme, the students will be given four lessons per week in the chosen sport, together with three lessons per week in Physical Education.

Apart from rigorous training in the chosen discipline through practical sessions, students will also be partaking in theoretical lessons related to the following: sports media, sports nutrition, sports administration, anti-doping, match-fixing awareness, sports fitness, First Aid, organisation of events, current affairs, rules and officiating.
