Sedqa - B.A.B.E.S Program

Every year, Sedqa Agency, in collaboration with the school, offers the B.A.B.E.S (Beginning Alcohol and Addiction Basic Education Studies) a primary prevention program for Junior III students. The purpose of the B.A.B.E.S program is to enable children to learn and practice life skills and make positive early decisions about alcohol and other drugs.

Sedqa-trained facilitators deliver the program, which is comprised of six, one hour classroom sessions, once weekly. They use visual aids such as puppets, flash cards and power point presentation to relate a succession of six stories. Each story is intended to introduce a specific skill, such as coping skills and decision-making skills.

The topics discussed during the B.A.B.E.S programme are the following:
Self-image and self esteem
Peer pressure and decision-making
Coping skills
Alcohol and drugs
The private body
Getting help
